Welcome, Contributors
Capturing Waynism: A Dozen Years of Championing Venturists is a knowledge succession project preserving Wayne H. Chang’s legacy in work-integrated learning and entrepreneurship education at University of Waterloo’s Conrad Business School.
We’re collecting stories, perspectives, and reflections from Wayne’s network — over 1,000 students, 700+ documented ventures, and decades of impact.

Call for Contributors
We’re looking for alumni, colleagues, and collaborators who can share their experience with Wayne. Your stories matter. Wayne’s body of work was largely oral and experiential — very little is written down. This project captures that legacy before it’s lost.
How to Contribute
1. Interviews (Preferred)
Semi-structured conversations where we explore your experience with Wayne. These are relaxed — feel free to direct the conversation toward what gets the most interesting and unique stories. The template questions below are just ideas for kicking off conversations.
- Duration: ~60 minutes (flexible — go longer if the stories are flowing)
- Format: Recorded via Zoom/Meet (audio + video with consent)
- Style: Conversational, not formal. We want authentic stories.
2. Written Reflections
If you prefer writing, submit a reflection journal or essay. These may be edited for tone and direction by the editorial team to maintain narrative coherence.
3. Student Reflection Essays
A dedicated section for student reflections as dedications may be included if there is sufficient interest.
Interview Template Questions
These are starting points — feel free to go wherever the conversation leads:
- What was your first impression of Wayne’s teaching style?
- Can you share a specific moment where Wayne’s approach changed how you think?
- How did Wayne handle failure — yours or others’?
- Which of Wayne’s concepts or phrases has stuck with you over the years?
- How do you carry Wayne’s principles forward in your own work today?
- What would surprise people who never met Wayne about how he operated?
- If you could capture one thing about Wayne for future students, what would it be?
Remember: The best stories are specific. A single vivid moment is worth more than a general summary.
